Discover what a Pinterest Manager is and How to Become a Pinterest Manager.
Do you find yourself burnt out or tired of your current career? Maybe you are a stay-at-home mom like me, who loves taking care of your family and being available for all the important events and milestones, but you feel like you need more?
I love that my husband’s job has afforded me the opportunity to stay home and have the flexibility to be there for my kids’ school events. However, before having kids, I worked, and once both kids were in school, I wanted something I enjoy doing for me, outside of being a mom and a wife. I also wanted to contribute financially, but I didn’t want a traditional 9-5 that affords zero flexibility. I wanted a way to contribute financially without losing time with my family.
If this sounds like you, then managing Pinterest accounts might be perfect for you. In this post, I’ll take you through everything you need to know to succeed in this role, even if you have zero experience. I want you to be confident in your decision, so let’s get started and discover the ultimate guide to becoming successful in this career!
What is a Pinterest Manager?
A Pinterest Manager handles Pinterest accounts for business owners, bloggers, or entrepreneurs. They are responsible for creating and curating content, increasing engagement, and driving traffic back to the website. They also optimize the account by using keywords, analyzing audience data, and staying up-to-date with platform changes and trends.
If this sounds confusing, I promise you that once you start practicing, it gets easier.
Why would someone hire a Pinterest Manager?
You may be wondering, who would even hire someone to manage their Pinterest? I thought Pinterest was just for home decor, DIY projects, and recipes. In reality, Pinterest is one of the best resources for organically increasing website traffic. Businesses and individuals who want to capitalize on the power of Pinterest but lack the time or expertise to manage it themselves often seek out a professional. With a specialist handling their account, they can rest easy knowing it’s in good hands and focus on the aspects of their business that they enjoy most. Additionally, a Pinterest Manager can provide valuable insights and strategies to increase visibility, reach, and conversions on the platform. If you’re considering this career path, it’s important to know what’s involved so you, can make an informed decision.
What do I need to know to manage Pinterest accounts?
To be successful, there are a few key things you should know.
Managing Pinterest accounts requires a combination of:
- Creativity
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn
If you possess these qualities and are passionate about helping businesses succeed on Pinterest, then this could be the perfect career path for you.
How much can I make managing Pinterest accounts?
The good news is there’s no set price. It depends on several factors, like years of experience, the size of the client’s account, the scope of work performed, and your location.
Your earnings will also depend on what you charge for your services. Will you charge hourly, or will you offer clients a package of services for a set fee? Personally, I choose to create packages for my clients and charge a monthly fee for those services. When a client needs to add services beyond the initial scope of work, we discuss additional pricing.
Many new Pinterest Managers start between $20-$35 per hour, while experienced professionals can earn $50-$100 per hour. If you choose to create packages, many range from $300-$2000 per month, depending on your experience.
The best way to determine your rate is by checking out your competitors’ rates. This is a great way to find a starting point and build from there. If you have a certain amount you need to make each month, you can start with your hourly rate or package price and then determine how many hours you need to sell or how many clients you need at your package price to reach your income goals.
(Don’t forget to take taxes into account. As a Pinterest Manager, you are responsible for paying taxes on your income.)
Now that we’ve talked about what you can make, let’s look at what the role entails.
What does a Pinterest Manager do?
A Pinterest Manager is responsible for creating and implementing a strategic marketing plan to boost engagement and drive traffic to a client’s Pinterest account. This includes creating visually appealing pins, optimizing boards, and scheduling content to reach the target audience at the right time.
They should also stay on top of the latest Pinterest trends, algorithm updates, and best practices to ensure the client’s account is at its best. Regular audits are also part of the job, tracking the account analytics and making necessary adjustments.
I provide my clients with an analytics report every 30 days. This keeps them informed on their account’s performance and allows us to strategize what is working and what can be improved.
If this sounds overwhelming, I promise it doesn’t have to be.
Are Pinterest managers in demand?
As Pinterest continues to grow as a marketing platform, it’s no surprise that the demand for Pinterest Managers is on the rise. Businesses are realizing the amazing opportunities Pinterest provides for their brand, but they don’t have the time to learn or keep up with another social media platform.
Current trends suggest that the demand for Pinterest Managers will continue to increase. Many brands and businesses are turning to Pinterest to expand their reach. Pinterest Pins last much longer than any other social media platform, which means a Pin created today can still drive traffic to your website next year. This is very appealing to clients.
Businesses and brands hire Pinterest Managers for their knowledge and expertise. They pay you to stay up-to-date on the latest changes to the platform.
How do I become a Pinterest Manager?
One option is to take a course specifically focused on Pinterest management. (This is what I did and it was the best decision I made). These courses can provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the platform, as well as best practices for content creation, analytics, and project management. However, taking a course is not a requirement for success.
I wanted the security of knowing I wasn’t starting this new career alone. I wanted support and direction. That’s why I chose to take a course.
